George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg have probably never heard of Marsden, but that won’t stop Hollywood fever running through Peel Street as the BBC rolls in to film it’s new crime thriller “In the Dark”.
I too was “In the Dark” as I leapt off the bus through a gaggle of TV execs munching away on the Bacon based delights of the local bakery.
“Are the movie stars in town?” I asked. Bemused by my Northern tones I was ushered on past the co-op and onto our office where I could spy on the events from the Innovate Crows nest and now unofficial Entertainment News HQ.
From my vantage point I could see the crew prepping a Car ready to be filmed. These TV types, not happy with the “always on” precipitation Marsden provides brought their own rain with them to splash on the windscreen of the star’s car (the job of the Orange panted man in our picture). From what we could see, the Volkswagen performed well.
Asked for an official statement on what was going on I was advised to check-in with my fellow News-Hounds over at the Huddersfield Examiner
“The series is based on novels by Mark Billingham and will star a young cast including MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street, Downton Abbey, The Twilight Saga) David Leon, Ashley Walters and Emma Fryer.
Buring, will play detective Helen Weeks, who will try overcome childhood secrets as she deals with two major crimes”
It’s not the first time we have had celebrities in Marsden though. Richard Gere came here in 1979 to film the classic war drama Yanks.
He has not yet been back.
Anyhoo, Best get back to those Websites before Matt finds….. Oh dear.
